Baseball Racks Up Another Win In Florida

Auburndale, Fla. - March 15, 2017 -The Roger Williams University baseball team earned another win down in Florida against The Pride of Springfield College. The Pride fell to Hawks, 6-2, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Hawks evens its record out at 3-3, while the Pride are now 2-2 on the year.
Roger Williams' starter, Sam Bennett (Andover, Mass.) was key in the Hawks victory on Wednesday, as the junior left went 7.2 innings, holding the Pride to just five hits while fanning six. Chris Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) picked up a pair of doubled in the win, including an RBI double in the top of the third.
Bosco's double ignited the Hawks' bats, as Roger Williams would push a pair of runs across the plate in the top of the third, as Joey Gulino (Meriden, Conn.) followed with an RBI double of his own to score Bosco later in the inning.
The Hawks would add to its lead in the top of the eighth, when Bryan Terzian (Westport, Conn.) doubled down the left field line, plating Danny Roth (West Hartford, Conn.) and Bosco to make it 4-0 Roger Williams. The Hawks would add a fifth run when Ryan McDermott (Wrentham, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch.
In the bottom half of the frame, JP Peters (Guilford, Conn.) came up with a pinch-hit single to right, before Nick LeDuc (Belchertown, Mass.) came on to pinch run. After Marsicano put one in the hole between second and first for a single, the two advanced on a wild pitch, setting up the two-run single to center for King to cut the Pride's deficit to three.
Roger Williams pushed its lead back to four in the top of the ninth when Justin Stone (Blackstone, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch, and Ryan Havunen (Lincoln, R.I.) picked up the final three outs to seal the Hawks' win.
Up next, the Hawks will return to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex on Thursday, March 16 when it will take on Franklin & Marshall at 12:30 PM
