Men’s Soccer Nets Six In Season-Opening Win

Jordan Lach (Norton, Mass.) put back a deflected save off of a Sean Janson (Avon, Conn.) shot in the 15th minute, putting the Hawks up 1-0. A minute later, Tyler Kuchenbecker (Wellesley, Mass.) buried a shot in the right corner for a quick 2-0 Hawk advantage.

In the 21st minute, Newbury misplayed a clear attempt on the ball, bouncing the ball backwards for an own goal and a 3-0 RWU lead. Roger Williams would round out the scoring the first half scoring in the 36th minute, with John McCarthy (Torrington, Conn.) booting in a shot off of a Colby Decker (Colchester, Conn.) free kick.

RWU added two more goals in the second half, with Lach returning the favor to Janson for his first goal of the year in the 60th minute. Connor Edwards (Deerfield, Mass.) scored the final tally of the game in the 79th minute, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box.
