BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer Team was defeated against Wentworth College this Friday, 1-0.
Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, Mass.) saved the first shot from Wentworth player, Jomar Martins (Braintree, Mass.), eight minutes into the game. Ten minutes later,
Garrett Bolton (Candia, N.H.) for the Hawks had a header shot which was saved by Philip Chomicki (Dorchester, Mass.).
In the 31
st minute, Erik Treble (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) flicked the ball onto Noah Martins (Dartmouth, Mass.) who then volleyed the ball into the back of the net for Wentworth's first and only goal. The first half ended 1-0 with the Leopards in the lead.
Despite shots from both
Colby Decker (Colchester, Conn.) and
Michael Oliveira (Waterville, Maine), neither could find the back of the net with the Hawks still down by one in the 54
th minute.
The ball stayed predominantly on the Leopard's side of the field for the remaining of the half with RWU getting 12 shots on goal. With none of the shots being successful, Wentworth shut out the Hawks and took the win, 1-0.
Geschickter had one save for RWU. Chomicki had ten saves for Wentworth.
Roger Williams University (14-2, 4-2 CCC) will be hosting Western New England University this Tuesday. Wentworth College (5-10-1, 1-5 CCC) will be traveling to University of New England this Tuesday.
