BRISTOL, R.I.—The Roger Williams Men's Soccer team was defeated against Western New England University 3-0 on a Tuesday afternoon.
Early in the first half, the Hawks had a miscommunication which ultimately lead to a deflection and a goal on their own net.
At halftime the score was 1-0 led by the Golden Bears. During the 59
th minute, Golden Bears' Nick Liccardi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) hit the top right corner of the net while just inside the 18 to secure the 2-0 lead.
Then, with one minute left in regulation, WNE's Corey Brown (Somers, Conn.) took a pass from teammate Matt Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) who then took off on a breakaway and chipped it in to end the game with a score of 3-0.
Despite multiple efforts from
Ryan Miller (Hillsdale, N.J.),
Nicholas Sanchez (Franklin, Mass.), and
Jake Fitting (Bristol, R.I.) the Hawks couldn't quite capitalize on their opportunities.
The Golden Bears outshot the Hawks 20 to 14 but RWU put up more corner kicks than WNE.
RWUs' goalkeeper
Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, Mass.) had six saves in which some of them were outstanding and WNEs' goalkeeper Sam Brewer (Westford, Mass.) had four.
The Hawks and Golden Bears wait to find out their seed in the CCC Quarterfinals on October 27th.
