BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team came away with a 9-0 shutout win over Curry College Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
Taryn Roche (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and
Riley Spillane (Easton, Mass.) helped begin things with an 8-0 victory over Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) and Hannah Faghan (Whitman, Mass.) at #1 doubles. At #2 doubles,
Libby Bennett (Watertown, Conn.) and
Morgan Crimmins (Boston, Mass.) collected an 8-2 win over Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) and Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.), while
Tanya Gianitsos (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and
Samantha Rivkin (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) downed Rachel Lawlor (Meriden, Conn.) and Skylar Lewis (Tiverton, R.I.) by the same score at #3.
Spilland and Gianitsos both notched 6-1, 6-0 wins at #2 and #4 singles, respectively. Spillane was victorious over Faghan and Gianitsos picked up her win against Lawlor. Roche set down Cash-Sortwell 6-0, 6-0 at #1, while Crimmins also had the 6-0, 6-0 win against Robidoux at #3.
Bennt had the final win for RWU on the day at #5, picking up a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Lewis. Rivkin won #6 singles via default.
Roger Williams (6-4, 3-3 CCC) closes out the regular season Friday against Salve Regina. Curry (0-11, 0-7 CCC) plays its third match in as many days tomorrow against Rhode Island College.
