Volleyball Moves on to the CCC Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team, the No. 1 seed, fell to No. 4 seed Roger Williams 3-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals on Thursday night to end the 2018 season. With the win, Roger Williams advances to the CCC Championship and will travel to Boston, Mass. to take on the No. 2 seed Wentworth on Saturday. 

The Hawks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after taking the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-20. The visitors were able to hit .278 and .333 in the opening two frames while limiting Endicott to .108 and .067 averages. The Gulls would rally to take the next two, 25-18 and 25-21. Endicott's offense was dominant in the fourth as the Gulls posted 19 kills and a .341 average, setting up a winner-take-all fifth. In the final set, the Hawks would jump out to a 5-2 lead before the Gulls came back to take a 9-5 lead. A run by Roger Williams locked the set at 10-10 before the visitors pulled away for the 15-12 win.

Freshman Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) led all players with her 15 kills and .545 hitting percentage in the match. The CCC Rookie of the Year only had three kills through two sets before exploding for 12 in the final three. She was joined by Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) and Alex Dippel (Fallston, Md.) with double-digit kill efforts as Quesnelle finished with 14, while Dippel notched 13.Quesnelle also posted 11 digs in the loss, as she and setter Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) registered double-doubles on the night, after Gifford finished with 49 assists and 15 digs.
