Women’s Basketball Ends 13-Game Winning Streak

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I.-- The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team lost to Endicott College Saturday afternoon with a final score of 62-60.
 
The game started with honoring the Roger Williams seniors: Stephanie Bramante (Stoneham, Mass.), Anna Walther (Northampton, Mass.), Mariah Nicholas (Acushnet, Mass.), Teagan Dunn (Burlington, Conn.), and Rebecca Ritchie (Hanover, Mass.).
 
While the Hawks may have had the first shot of the game, it wasn't a good quarter overall for them. They led 5-2 with 8:49 left in the quarter with Nicholas scoring a basket and Walther scoring a three-pointer. This was the only lead for Roger Williams in the whole quarter. With three minutes into the quarter, the Gulls went ahead 10-5. The quarter ended with Endicott leading 24-13.
 
Endicott kept up the advantage with Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) and Coppola each scoring layups. Dunn tried to bring back Roger Williams by scoring five points in less than a minute. With four minutes left in the quarter, Endicott had a ten-point lead over Roger Williams making it 34-24. Walther scored the last shot in the quarter making it 40-28.
 
At the start of the third quarter, Jerahian made a three-pointer and another shot to make it 36-42. Endicott still had the lead with Kiernan scoring two points with 6:37 left to play. Walther made a three pointer while and Nicholas scored two points to make the score 43-50. The Gulls brought it back to ten with Cassandra Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) scoring two free throws to make it 53-43, which put an end to the third quarter.
 
With the final quarter left in the game, this was the Hawks' chance to get the lead. Dunn made the first shot in the quarter and it went back and forth from there. With 2:56 left to play, Jerahian made a shot making it 59-58—the closest it's been since the first quarter. Endicott's Coppola made a shot which made it 62-58 with 1:05 left. Dunn followed with a shot to make it 60-62 but the Hawks could not get the tying basket as Endicott held on for the win.
 
Dunn had a double-double with 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Gabby Jerahian (Quincy, Mass.) had 16 points, and Walther scored 15.
 
Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) scored 19 points respectively and Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) scored seven points.
 
Roger Williams (21-4, 15-3 CCC) who has earned the second seed, will take on Gordon College, who has earned the seventh seed, on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., while Endicott (16-9, 14-4 CCC), who has earned the third seed, will take on Curry College, who has earned the sixth seed, in the CCC Quarterfinals.
