Endicott Takes Two Over Baseball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team fell 2-5 and 1-3 in a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference games against Endicott College.
 
In the opener, Shane Nowak (Litchfield, N.H.) walked with the bases loaded in the top of the second for a 1-0 lead. Endicott scored in the bottom of the inning before Anthony Dominguez (Chester, N.J.) hit an RBI single in the top of the third to bring home Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.).
 
Endicott tied the game in the bottom of the third then scored the eventual game-winning run on a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Matt Vernacatola (Berlin, Conn.) allowed three unearned runs in 2.0 innings in the loss. Dominguez, Chris Bosco (North Andover, Mass.), and Dean DePreta (Stamford, Conn.) each had hits for RWU.
 
The Hawk offense struggled in the second game of the doubleheader. The Hawks were held scoreless over the first six innings of the inning. Endicott posted two runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the bottom of the second.
 
In the top of the seventh, Dominguez scored on a throwing error at third off of a single by Bosco with two outs. The Hawks had the go-ahead run at the plate with two outs, but a ground out to the pitcher ended the game in Endicott's favor.
 
Justin Garcia (Foxborough, Mass.) suffered the hard luck loss, going the distance and striking out three in 6.0 innings. Nowak had a pair of hits for RWU, while Dominguez had one hit and a run.
 
Roger Williams (18-17, 10-4 CCC) hosts Salve Regina tomorrow in the CCC regular season finale.
