WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley won three of the four contested singles matches, and two of the doubles matches to earn the doubles point, in a 4-3 win over non-conference opponent Roger Williams on Tuesday in the team's home opener.
In doubles, the No. 1 pairing of Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) defeated
Heidi Martin and
Jessica Magliato 6-0. In the No. 2 match, Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mount Westonka) and Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) were 6-1 winners over
Tanya Gianitsos and
Taryn Roche.
Singles play saw Fabianski and Welty cruise in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches, as they each dropped just three games. Fabianski won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 match, while Welty won by the reverse score in No. 2. In No. 3 singles, Tynan dropped just two games
Riley Spillane in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Magliato had a 6-1. 2-6, 6-4 for Roger Williams over Welty at No. 4 singles.
