DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  The Roger Williams Field Hockey team rallied from a pair of two-goal second half deficits to post a 5-4 non-league victory over UMass Dartmouth Thursday evening at Cressy Field.
 
The visiting Hawks (2-0) trailed by a 4-2 margin with just under 14 minutes to play before sophomore Lea Peterson (Upton, Mass.) scored with 2:48 remaining. Peterson converted a penalty corner feed from junior Alex Coppinger (Guilderland, N.Y.), and freshman Brooklyn Cenatiempo(Trumbull, Conn.) evened matters for Roger Williams less than seven minutes later with her second tally of the match.  Peterson's unassisted marker from the left side of the net gave the Hawks their only lead of the night, as the visitors held possession for the final 90-plus seconds to notch their triumph.
 
Sophomore Brittany Perry (North Dighton, Mass.) staked the host Corsairs (0-2) to an early advantage after converting a pass from senior Mary Brown (Leicester, Mass.) in the 14th minute of play, but Roger Williams evened matters with 1:17 remaining in the half when junior Carly Doulette (Bridgewater, Mass.) took a feed from freshman Taylor Woodbury (Hamilton, Mass.) for the tying tally.  Freshman Kylie Dias (Fall River, Mass.) restored UMass Dartmouth's edge with her first collegiate goal on a penalty corner pass from sophomore Hannah Steen (Fall River, Mass.) just 2:15 after intermission, and senior Ciara Anderson (Medway, Mass.) extended that margin to 3-1 in the 45th minute of action.  Cenatiempo's first marker of the evening on a Peterson feed 55 seconds later cut the Hawks' deficit in half, but Anderson converted another Steen penalty corner pass in the 52nd minute to restore the Corsairs' two-goal advantage, setting up the visitors' late heroics.
 
Freshman Callie Flanagan (Wenham, Mass.) earned her first career victory with a five-save effort in goal for Roger Williams, while senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) also made five stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth.  The Hawks outshot the Corsairs by a 17-11 margin for the match, but the hosts held a 7-4 edge in penalty corners for the contest.
 
UMass Dartmouth travels to Willimantic, Conn. on Saturday afternoon to take on Eastern Connecticut in the Little East Conference opener for both teams beginning at Noon, while Roger Williams hosts Manhattanville in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon in Bristol, R.I. that begins at 3:00 pm.
