CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team fell in its two matches Saturday afternoon at the MIT Invitational, dropping a pair of 1-3 contests to Babson College and Wellesley College.
In the first match against Babson, the Hawks dropped the opening set 15-25 before tying the match at one apiece with a 25-16 victory. RWU tried to take the 2-1 lead in the third set but just slipped as Babson won 25-22. The Beavers would then claim the match with a 25-17 victory.
Against Wellesley, RWU jumped out to a 1-0 lead after setting down the Big Blue 25-17. However, Wellesley would answer back with a 25-18 win in the second set and a victory in the third set by the same margin. RWU's tournament would finish in the fourth set as Wellesley claimed the fourth game 25-17.
Molly Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) finished the second day of the tournament with 19 kills for RWU while
Lara LoIacono (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had 18 kills,
Kate Porter (Killingworth, Conn.) tallied 44 assists with
Julia Fields (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) going for 43 assists.
Kate Grabowski (Hebron, Conn.) added 32 digs.
Roger Williams (4-4) heads to Nashua Saturday for a tri-match with Rivier and Westfield State.
