Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team earned 3-1 victory over UMass-Boston before falling 2-3 to Springfield College in a tri-match Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
In the opener against UMass-Boston, the Hawks fell in the opening set 18-25 to the Beacons, but came back with commanding 25-12 victory in the second set to tie the match up.
Set three saw the Hawks jump out to a 13-3 lead before notching the 25-16 victory over the Beacons. In the final set, RWU was up 8-3 early on before UMass-Boston came back to tie the match at 18. The Beacons made it a 22-23 game before RWU closed out the match with kills by
Tori Melanson (North Attleboro, Mass.) and
Katie Welcher.
Against Springfield, the Pride picked up a 23-25 with over Roger Williams in the first set, holding off a late rally from RWU. The Hawks came back to take sets two and three by scores of 25-17 and 25-19.
In set four, the Hawks fell behind early and was unable to come back as Springfield forced a deciding fifth set with a 25-17 win. In the final set, Springfield led 7-3 early on before RWU came back to tie things at eight. The match would be tied again later at 13 apiece, but Springfield picked up the final two points for the win.
