How It Happened
Roger Williams took control early in the first set. After Abigail Mayuri began the match with a pair of aces, RWU answered with a 9-1 run to force a Bison timeout. The Hawks would eventually extended that lead to 20-8 en route to the 25-9 win.
In the second set, the Hawks put in their reserves to begin the game. Nichols would take advantage, scoring the first six points of the set. RWU would not be deterred, chipping away at the deficit and taking advantage of three consecutive Bison attack errors to pull within one (10-11). A
Katherine Pickard kill gave RWU their first lead of the set (15-11) but the game would be tight the rest of the way. Nichols was a point away from claiming the set (25-24) but RWU came back, with Pickard notching a solo block to earn the 28-26 win for RWU.
In the third set, both sides combined for seven ties and two lead changes. Nichols held a slim 10-8 lead at one point, but RWU pulled away with a 10-4 run to go up by five. The Hawks would claim the match 25-17 on a mishit ball from the Bison to push them to .500 in the conference.
