How It Happened
Gordon struck first 9:38 into the game. Calla Ashley caught the Hawk defense off-guard and sent a long shot from the left side into the right corner for a quick 1-0 Fighting Scot lead. Then at the 17:40 mark, McKenna Feller (Puyallup, Wash.) found Ashton Barkey with a free kick on the right side. Barkey was able to get the shot off and score for Gordon, putting the team up 2-0.
The Fighting Scots would not be done, as Gordon added another goal two minutes later. This time, Barkey set up Lexi Potter with a pass up the middle. Potter made her way around past the defense and chipped in an easy shot for a 3-0 first half lead.
In the second half, the Hawk offense got some opportunities, but were denied on key stops by Gordon keeper Kali Denty. Denty made a diving stop on a shot by
Bianca Robbins at the 57-minute mark, then later denied a point-blank shot by
Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) eight minutes later. RWU was not able to get on the board the rest of the way, allowing Gordon to grab the win.
