How It Happened
Roger Williams picked up an early lead with
Hannah Gaffney scoring her third goal of the year three minutes into the game.
Emma Stevens would later score on a deflected shot with just 15 seconds left in the first quarter to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.
At the 23:31 mark, Western New England got on the scoreboard with Taylor Klesyk scoring for the Golden Bears to bring them within one. That would be the only score for the rest of the half, as RWU went into halftime holding on to the one-goal lead.
After a scoreless third,
Hannah Palmer logged an insurance goal with just under seven minutes left to play in the game. Her score would be crucial, as Klesyk added another tally with 3:30 left in the game. Yet RWU was able to hold off Western New England the rest of the way to get the victory.
