How It Happened
Wheaton held the advantage early on, beginning the game on a 10-4 run. Roger Williams chipped away at the deficit, with
Rich Pugliese knocking down a pair of free throws to put RWU on top 16-15 with 12:48 left in the first half. The Hawks went up by six but Wheaton came back to tie it at 21.
From there, the Lyons went on an 11-1 run to go up by ten with 4:41 left in the period. RWU managed to make it a three-point game, but Wheaton would go into halftime with an eight-point lead (45-37).
In the second half, Wheaton held onto its lead for most of the early part of the period. However, Roger Williams would use a 14 -0 run to turn a five-point deficit into a nine-point lead with just under nine minutes remaining (73-64). That would prove to be the turning point for Roger Williams, as Wheaton was unable to come closer than seven the rest of the way.
