MILTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team cruised to a 96-76 win over Curry College Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
Drew Hart (Cheshire, Conn.) sank a three-pointer on the Hawks' first possession of the game. From there, the Hawks would lead wire to wire the rest of the way. After Kieran Carroll laid in a basket to make it 6-4, RWU used a 9-0 run to take a 15-4 lead. A three-pointer by
Jake Heaton (Shelton, Conn.) with 11:50 left in the half helped give Roger Williams its largest lead to that point, making it a 31-15 game.
Roger Williams led by double digits the rest of the half, taking a 51-34 lead going into halftime. RWU shot 56.3 percent in the period, including a solid 11-of-16 from behind the arc. Heaton led the Hawks with 15 points while
Austin Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) added 11.
A dunk by Hart kicked off the second half for Roger Williams, beginning a 7-0 run for the Hawks. A layup by
Rudy Jean (Brockton, Mass.) gave Roger Williams its largest lead of the game, a 37-point gap over Curry with 5:09 to play. RWU rolled the rest of the way to the 20-point victory.
Heaton led RWU with 26 points while
Rich Pugliese (Middlebury, Conn.) added 20 points. Coene scored 15 with
Doug Hostetler (Somers, Conn.) adding 11 off the bench.
Roger Williams (13-11, 10-5 CCC) wraps up the regular season at home against Western New England.
