DUDLEY, Mass.—The Roger Williams Baseball team split in a doubleheader against Nichols College 5-2 and 9-2 on a Saturday afternoon.
Early in game one, the Hawks earned three runs starting with
Eli Camner's (Hamden, Conn.) single up the middle. Next up,
Tyler Cedeno (Maynard, Mass.) hits the ball through the right side for a single while advancing Camner.
Tommy Hobin (Madison, Conn.) then came through with an RBI single through the left side to plate the first run of the game.
Eddy Jackson (Seekonk, Mass.) did his job by laying down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners in scoring potions. The plan worked when
Joey Gulino (Meriden, Conn.) singled down the left field line scoring two for a 3-0 lead.
The Hawks added another run in the top of sixth when Camner tripled to right center and Cedeno singled to bring him in.
Danny Roth (West Hartford, Conn.) hit his fourth homerun of the season for the Hawks in the top of the eighth bringing the score to 5-0.
Nichols tried to fight back late in the game when Joe Assenza (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) hit an RBI triple to score their first run of the game in the bottom of the eighth. A sacrifice fly ball led the Bison to gain one more run to end the game at 5-2.
Connor Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) was on the mound and received the win for the Hawks only allowing six hits, two runs, one walk, and earning three strikeouts.

Michael Farrell (Bellingham, Mass.) starting on the mound.
In game two, the Hawks scored their first run due to a couple of errors in the field in the top of the first.
Nichols answered right away scoring two in the bottom of the first by a 2 RBI single from Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) to put them ahead 2-1.
The Bison tacked on one more run in the bottom of the third by an RBI single from Chris Anderson (Naugatuck, Conn.) to increase their lead by two (3-1).
In the bottom of the fifth, Nichols increased their lead to 5-1 from an error and a triple from Anderson. During the next inning of play, the Bison earned three more runs from three doubles and a sacrifice fly. They earned one more run in the bottom of the eighth to put them ahead 9-1.
In the top of the ninth,
Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) double to left field. With two outs, Hobin singled to left field plating Jenkins to end the game 9-2.
The Hawks move on to UMass.-Amherst Tuesday April 2
nd at 3:30 p.m. for a single game.
