Men’s Lacrosse Sinks Leopards On Senior Day

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team collected a 15-10 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest.

Prior to the game, the Hawks honored the seven seniors, Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.), Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine), Campbell Gillis (Northborough, Mass.), Isaiah Washington (Swampscott, Mass.), Danny Reale (Fairfield, Conn.), Joseph Elia (Wantagh, N.Y.), and Shawn Errasti (Duxbury, Mass.), for their contributions to the RWU Men's Lacrosse program over the past four years.

Jacrob Eldred (Goffstown, N.H.) struck first for Wentworth with a goal three minutes into the game. Wentworth held on the lead for most of the first quarter, but RWU rallied late in the period to go on top. Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) tied the game up with 5:09 to go while Bova put RWU ahead with a goal at the 4:08 mark. Then in the final 90 seconds of the quarter, Mullane, Bova, and Brenden Whitten (Kennebunk, Maine) all scored to put the Hawks up 5-1 going into the second.

Abdullah Nassif, Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.), and Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) all tallied goals in the second quarter to put RWU up 8-1. The Hawk defense would hold Wentworth scoreless after the opening goal through the rest of the half.

RWU would add three more goals in the first two minutes of the third quarter before Kyle Doner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) used a man-up goal to end RWU's run. The Hawks would still outscore Wentworth 6-2 in the quarter to hold on to a commanding 14-3 lead.

The Leopard offense finally came to life in the fourth quarter, as Wentworth put up seven goals in the period. The Leopards scored five straight to pull within six, but could not come closer than five the rest of the way as RWU took the win.

Grier led RWU with five points (3 G, 2 A) while Bova and Marzec both added two goals and an assist. Brian Brockwell (Duxbury, Mass.) logged four caused turnovers and seven ground balls while Connor Hillemeir (Farmington, Conn.) won 15 of 20 faceoffs. Nolan earned the win, making 11 saves.

Doner and Eldred both finished with three goals and an assist, while Ben Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) added a goal and two assists. Anthony D'Avolio (Reading, Mass.) had two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Randy Ryan (Clinton, N.J.) took the loss, making ten saves.

On Tuesday, Roger Williams (11-4, 5-1 CCC) heads to Endicott while Wentworth (5-10, 2-4 CCC) travels to Salve Regina.
