BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team suffered an 8-12 setback to Endicott College Wednesday evening in a Commonwealth Coast Conference battle.
The Gulls jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of play with goals by Neal Parry, Will Clark, and Jack Sutherland.
Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.) stopped the run with a goal at the 7:25 mark. However, the Gulls answered with two more scores in the final four minutes of the first quarter. A goal by
Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) in the closing seconds made it a 5-2 Endicott lead.
The second quarter saw both teams struggle to find the back of the net, as
Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored the only goal of the period with 40 seconds left in the half, bringing RWU to within two.
Endicott scored the first two goals of the third quarter, but Marzec and
Andrew Gaffney (Cherry Valley, Mass.) came right back with goals of their own to keep the game at two. The Gulls responded with three straight scores before Bova scored with 4:44 left in the quarter. A pair of Endicott goals sandwiched between a
Peter Navarro (Londonderry, N.H.) tally made it a 12-7 EC advantage. Unfortunately for the Hawks,
Ryan Phillips (Hanover, Mass.) had the only goal for RWU in the fourth quarter as Endicott held on for the win.
Bova and Marzec both finished with three points on two goals and an assist.
Shawn Errasti (Duxbury, Mass.) added five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) made 12 saves in the loss.
Roger Williams (11-5, 5-2 CCC) wraps up the regular season Wednesday against Nichols.
