PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Roger Williams Baseball team lost 11-10 a single game to Rhode Island College on a Monday afternoon.
In the top of the third,
Joey Gulino (Meriden, Conn.) led off with a single to left field. To follow,
Eddy Jackson (Seekonk, Mass.) and
Chris Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) both doubled to score two.
Anthony Dominguez (Chester, N.J.) then hit a sacrifice fly to right field bringing
Justin Stone (Blackstone, Mass.) in.
Danny Roth (West Hartford, Conn.) was due up next and roped a single plating Bosco for a 4-0 lead.
In the fourth, Gulino got on from a single to third base, Jackson singled to right field, and Stone walked to load the bases for senior captain Bosco to hit a 2 RBI single through the left side to increase the lead 6-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Anchormen scored by a single from Josh Silva (Seekonk, Mass.) to plate teammate Nick Feola (North Providence, R.I.). Ryan Rotondo (Warwick, R.I.) then hit a single to right field scoring one more to put the score at 6-2.
The Hawks earned two more runs from Dominguez's 2 RBI single to right field and one more due to a wild pitch by Dan Kennedy (Johnston, R.I.) to put them ahead 9-2.
The Anchormen were not defeated yet as they drew seven runs by a double from Silva, an RBI from Nate Vigeant (Coventry, R.I.), an error from
Tommy Hobin (Madison, Conn.), and a two RBI single from Tyler Calabro (Cumberland, R.I.) for a tie game 9-9.
In the top of the seventh, Jackson hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score one to take the lead 10-9.
But in the bottom of the eighth, the Anchormen added one to tie it back up 10-10.
The game had to go in extra innings until Vigeant hit a walk off home run to win the game 11-10.
The Hawks (8-13-1) will face Tufts University (15-4) tomorrow April 9
th in a single game at 3:00 p.m.
