BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams Baseball Team earned another win against Endicott College this Saturday with a final score of 11-10.
All three batters struck out in the top of the first inning with
Justin Garcia (Foxborough, Mass.) on the mound for the Hawks. RWU earned their first run in the bottom of the inning after a double to right field from
Danny Roth (West Hartford, Conn.) to bring
Eli Camner (Hamden, Conn.) home.
With the bases loaded in the top of the second inning, Ryan Prosser (Holden, Mass.) homered to give Endicott the lead at 4-1.
Tommy Hobin (Madison, Conn.) cut their lead to two with a single through the right side while
Ben Bonavita (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored on a throwing error.
Justin Stone (Blackstone, Mass.) then reached first on a throwing error and Hobin reached home to bring the score to 3-4.
RWU tied the game in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI from
Tyler Brett (Hebron, Conn.) to advance Hobin. To give the Hawks the lead,
Anthony Dominguez (Chester, N.J.) and Camner ran home after
Joey Gulino (Meriden, Conn.) doubled to right center. RWU did not stop, with another run from Gulino after a single from Hobin to bring the lead to 7-4.
At the top of the sixth, Benjamin Schena (Chesire, Conn.) singled to left field in an RBI to advance Dan Cacciola (Saugus, Mass.) home for the Gulls. To cut the Hawks lead to one, Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.) walked for Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) to score.
Chris Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) struck out the last batter to end the inning at 7-6.
In the bottom of the sixth and with
Chris Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) on second, Roth hit a homerun to bring RWU's lead to 9-6.
In the top of the ninth, Endicott added three runs to the board two singles that lead to 3 RBI's and to tie the game at 9's.
In the 12
th inning, Benjamin Schena (Cheshire, Conn.) singled up the middle and scored to put the Gulls ahead one.
However, the Hawks came back in the bottom of the 12
th when Camner started it off with a single to right center. With one out, Camner stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error. Dominguez was due up next and roped a double down the right field line to score Camner and to tie the game at 10s. After Gulino reached on a fielder's choice and
Eddy Jackson (Seekonk, Mass.) advanced to third (pinch running for Dominguez), Bonavita hit a walk off single to right field to win the game 11-10.
The Hawks will now advance in the CCC Tournament and play on Friday.
