Volleyball Drops Two To Millikin And Johns Hopkins

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at the Stevens Invitational to Millikin (0-3) and Johns Hopkins (0-3).

How It Happened (Millikin)
A 6-0 run by Millikin in the opening set turned a 3-2 RWU lead into an 8-3 deficit for Roger Williams. RWU was not able to come closer than three the rest of the way as the Big Blue took the first set 25-21.
 
The second set was closer early on, as both teams traded points back and forth. However, the tide turned in Millikin's favor when the Big Blue broke a 9-9 tie with a 5-0 run. The Hawks managed to pull within three (18-21) but would ultimately fall 19-25.
 
In the third set, the Hawks fell behind early, going down 6-11 before calling a timeout. After the break, RWU managed to come back within three (11-14), but a 5-1 run quickly put Millikin up by seven. The Big Blue would take the set 25-17.

How It Happened (Johns Hopkins)
The Hawks found themselves behind 2-5 early on in the first set. RWU made it a 7-9 deficit before Johns Hopkins took a 13-7 advantage. The Blue Jays earned the 25-14 win in the first set.
 
Johns Hopkins began the first set on a 4-1 run. The Blue Jays would then use a 6-0 run to take a commanding 12-4 lead. Johns Hopkins took set two 25-13 after hitting .515 in the game.
 
The Hawks scored the first two points of the third set before Johns Hopkins notched four straight points. RWU would tie things at four apiece, but the Blue Jays responded with a 5-0 run. RWU would not be able to come closer than four the rest of the way. Johns Hopkins ended the match with four straight points to take the set 25-15.
