How It Happened
Neither side was able to find the back of the goal in the first quarter.
Callie Flanagan had a clutch kick save on a shot from Lindsay Bruns four minutes into the game.
Erin Magsamen (Bridgewater, N.J.) would later break up a crossing pass on a 2v2 situation with seven minutes to go in the period to deny UNE a scoring opportunity.
The Nor'Easters would get on the board early in the second quarter. Kendra MacDonald (N.H.) tapping a short pass to Reanna Boulay for the score to put UNE up 1-0 less than two minutes in. However the Hawks came back six minutes later, as
Hannah Gaffney capitalized on a loose ball in front of the goal for her first score of the year. That would be the lone goal the rest of the period as both teams went into the break tied at one.
After a scoreless third and the tight defense by both teams, the game appeared to heading towards overtime. UNE would have other plans as Lindsay Bruns scored with just under eight minutes left to play to regain the lead for the Nor'Easters. Then Bailey Lynch added an insurance goal with two minutes left to help secure the win for UNE.
