BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team set a new single-game scoring record with eight goals Tuesday afternoon, securing an 8-2 victory over Johnson & Wales University in the team's 2019 home opener.

Emma Stevens (Brewster, Mass.) five minutes later for a 2-0 RWU lead. Jillian Miele (Wilmington, Mass.) got JWU on the board with a score at the nine-minute mark, but
Alex Coppinger (Guilderland, N.Y.) ended the 1
st quarter with a goal for the Hawks.
RWU took a 4-1 lead into halftime, with
Hannah Palmer (Essex Junction, Vt.) scoring the only goal of the second quarter. In the third, RWU put three more scores on the board with two from Cenatiempo and one from
Sydney McCarthy (Little Falls, N.Y.).
In the fourth,
Sophia Hess (Leominster, Mass.) tallied the record goal for RWU with just under three minutes left in the game. Natalie Rivas (Andover, N.J.) scored the final goal of the game for JWU in the closing minutes, giving RWU an 8-2 win.
