How It Happened
A jumper by
Eli Harris gave the Hawks a quick 2-0 lead before the Fighting Scots rolled off nine straight points. Roger Williams was later able to regain the lead on a four-point play by
Doug Hostetler (24-21) with 10:33 left in the half. From there, the Hawks led the rest of the half, going up by as many as seven before going into halftime up 44-39.
Gordon came out of halftime on an 11-2 run to retake the lead. Eric Demers paced the way for Gordon with 20 second-half points. Roger Williams trailed the rest of the way but managed to keep the deficit within single digits, even pulling within one with 9:12 left (65-66).
A layup by
EJ Nelson and a three pointer by
Rich Pugliese managed to get the Hawks within three with 2:32 left to play.
Roger Williams had a chance late to get back in the game, trailing by four with just under a minute left. Gordon missed the front end of a 1-and-1 on back-to-back possessions to give RWU a chance to pull closer. Yet two missed threes and a turnover buried the Hawks' opportunities as Gordon nabbed the win.
