NEWARK, N.J. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team lost the first game 6-7 and won the second game of a doubleheader 5-4 against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.

How It Happened
Justin Garcia (Foxborough, Mass.) started on the mound for the Hawks and was relieved by .
Anthony Sapienza (North Andover, Mass.). The first run of the game happened by a fielding error from the Hawks. However, RWU answered right back scoring two runs in the top of the second when Jenkins homered to right center to take the lead. The bottom of the second was a huge inning for Rutgers as Scanlon hit a two RBI single, followed by an RBI groundout, and an RBI single to add five runs to the board. Scanlon then hit an RBI single down the right field line for a 7-2 lead. The Hawks scored two more from errors in the field and it came down to the top of the ninth when
George Somers (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) hit a sacrifice fly and Jenkins scored off of a pass ball, but they could not come up with the final two runs to get the win.

How It Happened
In the top of the third, the Hawks scored three runs starting with Somers 2 RBI double down the left field line.
Tommy Hobin (Madison, Conn.) then hit an RBI single to bring home Somers to take the early 3-0 lead. Rutgers-Newark came back when Ramos hit a 2 RBI single followed by another 2 RBI by Klimowich to put the score at 4-3. It wasn't until the top of the sixth that the Hawks responded with two runs to take the 5-4 win. Due to darkness, the game ended in the sixth inning.
