Women’s Lacrosse Gets Win In Home Opener

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team won its 2020 home opener Saturday afternoon against the Framingham State University, defeating the Rams 13-9.

How It Happened
Devon Sarazin struck first for the Hawks on the opening possession, scoring less than 30 seconds into the game. She would convert a pass off of a won draw by Mandy Beck to give RWU a quick lead.
 
Framingham State would take the lead with a pair of goals over the next six minutes, but RWU came back with three straight tallies for a 4-2 lead with 9:58 left in the first half. Framingham State would come back, scoring two of the final three goals in the period to go into halftime down by only one (4-5).
 
In the second half, Jenna McMahon knotted the game at five with a goal two minutes into the period. Delana Erickson (Concord, N.H.) would respond on the ensuing RWU possession with a free position goal to regain the lead for RWU. Her score would spark a 7-0 run for Roger Williams over the next ten minutes, putting the Hawks up 12-5 with 16:33 left to play.
 
Framingham State continued to battle, scoring three unanswered goals to make it an 8-12 game with ten minutes to play. However, the Hawk defense put the clamps down, holding the Rams to only one more goal in the final two minutes of the game. RWU would come away with the home opening win.
