Baseball Picks Up Win Against Alfred State

LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team was victorious 6-5 against Alfred State University this afternoon.

How It Happened
Tyler Cedeno (Maynard, Mass.) hit an RBI single to center field to start the Hawks off in the bottom of the first. Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Ben Bonavita (East Longmeadow, Mass.) crossed home plate when Davenport hit a single up the middle for a 3-0 lead. Andrew Declement (Cheshire, Conn.) stole second while Davenport stole home to gain another run. Joey Gulino (Meriden, Conn.) hit a triple to bring home two of his teammates extending the Hawks lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second. Alfred State answered by scoring two runs when LoTemple and Connor Pingitore (Amsterdam, NY) hit RBI doubles. They added one more in the top of the fifth for a score of 6-3. The Pioneers came within one of the Hawks in the seventh after a single and a throwing error to plate two. Pitcher Harz earned the win as Demers took the save as the Hawks defeated the Pioneers 6-5.
