How It Happened
The Hawks scored one run in the top of the first and continued their hitting streak earning four more runs in the top of the third for a 5-0 lead. Tyler Cedeno (Maynard, Mass.) hit an RBI single to produce another run in the fourth. Alfred State scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Sam Dickerson (Cutchogue, NY) hit a solo homerun to left field. Avallone hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Hawk's lead in half 6-3. Roth, Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Ben Bonavita (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and George Somers (Lake Hopatcong, NJ) all recorded RBI's in the top of the sixth that plated four runs. In the top of the seventh, Gulino homered to left field extending the lead to 11-3. The Hawks earned two more runs in the top of the ninth resulting in a 13-3 win. RWU's pitcher Farrell recorded his first win of the season.
