Softball Drops First Two Games in Florida

CLERMONT, FL. – The Roger Williams University Softball team lost both games today against Alvernia University 8-10 and Millikin University 5-6 this afternoon.

How It Happened
In the bottom of the first, Tar. Chatowsky hit an RBI triple followed by Alex Lombardo's RBI single to left field for a quick 2-0 lead. Alvernia answered by scoring three runs in the top of the second after Hudson hit a two RBI single and scored from a walk. They piled on six more runs in the top of the fourth and one in the fifth. Chatowsky and Lombardo were back at it again in the sixth inning with a combined three RBI's followed by Goria's RBI double. Two more runs were added for the Hawks but they could not catch Alveria who won 8-10.

How It Happened
Lombardo and Tar. Chatowsky hit two RBI singles to bring their teammates home in the first inning. Millikin scored a run right after in the bottom of the second to put the scoreboard at 2-1. The Hawks tacked on three in the third when Goria hit an RBI double and Cioffi later with a two RBI single. For the remainder of the game the score remained at 5-1 until the bottom of the seventh when Millikin's Grace Biondo (Naperville, Ill.) hit a three run homer putting them only down by one. With the bases loaded, Gould hit a two run walk off single to win the game 6-5.
 
What's Next
Roger Williams (0-2) will face Carroll and Catholic tomorrow at 1:30p.m. and 4:15p.m.
