How It Happened
Julia Steeves (Skowhegan, Maine) came through with the first goal of the contest for the Nor'Easters. Five minutes into the game, Steeves drove in a pass from Jillian Lachapelle (Gilford, N.H.) into the top inside right post for a 1-0 UNE lead.
The Nor'Easters' advantage remained throughout the remainder of the quarter and through most of the second until
Cate Delaney (Gloucester, Mass.) knocked in a goal from
Hannah Palmer (Essex Junction, Vt.) with just under three minutes left in the half to tie the game at one apiece.
The University of New England caught a break in the third quarter when Lachapelle put in a shot from Kate Lindmark (Norfolk, Mass.) from the left side that just got over RWU keeper
Callie Flanagan (Wenham, Mass.). Her score would put UNE back on top by one with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.
The Nor'Easters would hold RWU to only one shot in the fourth quarter while adding an insurance goal off a penalty stroke in the closing seconds to hold on for the win.
