How It Happened
Hannah Palmer (Essex Junction, Vt.) started things off with a goal for the Hawks four minutes into the game for an early 1-0 lead. The Hawks would control the offensive pace for most of the first half, outshooting Connecticut College 7-2. The Hawks held the Camels to only one shot in each of the first two quarters.
After taking the one-goal lead into the break, Connecticut College would come back to tie the game shortly into the third quarter. Colleen Raferty (Dover, Mass.) connected on a pass from Rowan Galanis (Ipswich, Mass.) three minutes in to make it a 1-1 game.
The knotted score would not last long as
Hannah Gaffney (Bolton, Mass.) responded for the Hawks with the go-ahead goal less than one minute later.
Cate Delaney (Gloucester, Mass.) would add one more tally in the fourth quarter to punctuate the Hawks' victory.
Connecticut College picked up its offense in the second half, putting up eight shots in the second half and taking seven penalty corners. Despite a better offensive showing by the Camels, the Roger Williams defense managed to allow the lone goal in the third to help earn the win.
