BRISTOL, R.I. – On a sunny, celebratory Saturday afternoon, the Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team sailed past Clark University with a 9-0 shutout win on their senior day at the RWU Tennis Courts. The clean sweep was the third consecutive win, and sixth overall victory of the shutout variety.
 
Playing their third match in four days, the Hawks largely dominated throughout the contest as they did not drop a set on the afternoon to improve to 8-1 in their fall slate of games. Clark, meanwhile, fell to 1-1.
 
Hawk Highlights
Roger Williams made quick work of the Cougars in doubles play. In doubles #1, Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) and Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) dispatched of Leilani Brown and Hannah Russo, 8-1. Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) and Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) took doubles #2, 8-1, over Ellie Garfield and Lilliya Georista. In doubles #3, the Hawks went with the senior tandem of Shannon DeChiara (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Tanya Gianitsos (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and they took care of Maeve McEnroe and Nardin Sayoufi, 8-2.
 
In singles play, the Hawks' third senior, Alexa DiCesare (Norwood, Mass.), participated in the best match of the day in the #4 flight where she outlasted Geogista, 7-5, 6-2. The rest of the box score was fairly one-sided in favor of the Hawks. In singles #1, Place beat Russo, 6-3, 6-0. Cahoon defeated Russo, 6-0, 6-0 in singles #2. Ferraro handled Garfield, 6-1, 6-0 in the #3 flight. Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) got the nod in singles #5 for RWU, and she breezed past McEnroe, 6-0, 6-0. Santoro versus Sayoufi rounded out the box score in the #6 flight, with a 6-3, 6-0 Santoro victory.
