How It Happened
Roger Williams dominated Salve Regina offensively through the first half. The Hawks outshot Salve Regina 10-0 in the first quarter and held the Seahawks to only one shot in the second. RWU put up six shots in the period, with
Morgan Foley (Hanover, Mass.) finding the back of the goal at the 23:17 mark. Her score would help the Hawks take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, RWU's defense continued to shut down Salve's offense, again keeping the Seahawks without a shot in the period. Roger Williams had eight shots and four penalty corners in the quarter, but were unable to convert any of the opportunities into scores.
Foley finally managed to break through with another score for the Hawks with just under ten minutes to play in the game. RWU looked poised to earn their first win over Salve since 2018 but Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) got the Seahawks on the board with a goal at the 51:12 mark. Then Hannah Bedrosian (Seekonk, Mass.) notched the game-tying score for Salve with three minutes left in regulation to send the game to OT.
In the extra period, Timms scored the game winner for Salve Regina three minutes in. Despite Salve being outshot 31-8 in the game, the Seahawks picked up the victory and clinched the #4 seed for the CCC Tournament in the process.
