How It Happened
The Hawks came out raring to go as they remained on the offensive end of the field for most of the first quarter. After a multitude of corner attempts and shots, Hannah Gaffney (Bolton, Mass) was able to put the ball in the back of the net on a penalty stroke to notch the first goal of the game with under four minutes left in the quarter.

The second quarter looked quite similar to the first as RWU was able to maintain offensive dominance for the duration of the time. Lauren Costanzo (North Andover, Mass.) scored the second goal of the game with an assist from Gaffney with 5:56 left in the period. Later in the quarter, Brooklyn Cenatiempo (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the third goal of the game for the Hawks off a pass from Hannah Palmer (Essex Junction, Vt.). This score would tie Cenatiempo for the school record of 32 career goals that she now shares with Meghan Curran '16. The Hawks would go up three goals to none at the half.

The third quarter saw RWU score very quickly to start. Kelly Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.) received a pass from Gaffney to make the score 4-0 in favor of RWU one minute into the quarter. The next goal came from Amelia Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) less than a minute later with another assist from Palmer to bring the Hawks their next goal.

This is all while an outstanding showing is coming on the defensive end of the field. The defense held Gordon to only eight total shots, while Callie Flanagan (Wenham, Mass.) accumulated three saves throughout the game to earn the shutout 5-0 win for RWU.
