How It Happened
The #7 Rams of Suffolk University came to play and put up a tremendous amount of fight against the #2 seeded Roger Williams Hawks. Harmony Johnson (Riverside, Calif.) served up the first eight points of the game to get the Rams up 8-0. Tori Melanson (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Katherine Pickard (St. Petersburg, FLA) put on a stellar performance in the first set to help Roger Williams make the comeback. With Suffolk leading 20-13, the Hawks scored eight straight points. From there on it was a tight battle but Pickard could not be stopped and earned a kill for the Hawks to take the 25-22 win in the first set.

The second set looked very different as the Hawks had found their groove and were not going to go down without a fight. Pickard was a huge asset in this set again as she came up with a major kill to erupt her bench and make the score 10-5 in favor of the Hawks. Kristen Dansereau (Killingworth, Conn.) made a great play after a back and forth rally between the two teams to make the score 14-6. From here on out RWU was on the attack and won the set 25-9.

The third set saw much more back and forth action than the second. Suffolk started off strong coming out with the first two points of the set, but Roger Williams bounced back with a kill from Pickard to tie it up at 3-3. From here on out the Hawks were able to maintain the lead for the entirety of the set. A late block from Jasmine James (Norwood, Mass.) made the score 15-17 but was simply not enough to stop the momentum of RWU. The Hawks were able to come out with the win in set three, with a score of 25-19.
