How It Happened
The Hawks took the opening points of their first home game of the season on a layup by Caroline Elie (Rockland, Mass.). The game began to go back and forth for both teams. Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.) was a dominant force for Roger Williams in the first quarter, collecting a total of eight points. Reese Codero (Whitman, Mass.) was able to drain a three-pointer in the last minute to end the first quarter leading 20-16.

The second quarter started in favor of Roger Williams as they were able to collect the first eight points (28-16). Karli Opalka (Southbury, Conn.) was responsible for six of those eight points. Opalka was a force to be reckoned with as she seemed to be scoring all over the court for the Hawks. Babson started to find their rhythm but RWU was able to maintain their lead to close out the half up 34-31.

Babson came ready to play in the second half of the game. Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.) nailed two free throws to put Babson up 45-41. From there, the game was another back and forth battle for the rest of the quarter. Mancinelli hit a three-pointer to end the quarter and RWU would go into the fourth quarter tied 47-47 with Babson.

The fourth quarter was similar in action as both teams were willing to fight until the end. Odam would start off the scoring for the Beavers, which would give them some momentum. Babson led 52-47 early in the quarter, but Roger Williams was able to come back. RWU would go up 61-55 with 2:41 left in the game. With Babson finding themselves in some foul trouble towards the end, the Hawks were able to capitalize on these opportunities and come out with the 66-60 win.
