NORTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team dropped its first game of the young season, defeated 82-85 to Wheaton College in a tight non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
Eli Harris (Falmouth, Mass.) and
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) both scored on the first two Hawk possessions to give the lead. The Lyons would tie things up at four, leading to both teams going back and forth. With Wheaton trailing by one (6-7), the Lyons used a 15-6 run to take a ten-point lead.
The Hawks stormed back to pull within one (25-26) and eventually tying the game at 30. However, RWU was unable to take the lead, with Wheaton going into halftime up 46-43.
Wheaton came out of the game with seven straight points to extend the lead to ten. Roger Williams would again make a comeback, with
Nate Lopes (Scituate, Mass.) scoring a layup to put RWU up 65-64. RWU's lead would be short-lived, as the Lyons answered with eight straight points and eventually taking a nine-point lead with 2:25 left.
The Hawks managed one more rally, pulling to within two with ten seconds left.
John Ah Kao (Dumont, N.J.) would go to the line, hitting one of two free throws, while Evan Cook knocked down a jumper on the other end with two seconds left. A turnover on the ensuing Hawk possession allowed Wheaton to escape with the win.
