How It Happened
UMass-Dartmouth jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Corsairs began the game with back-to-back three-pointers by Jake Ashworth (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Jackson Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.) as part of a 10-2 run. UMass-Dartmouth would go up 14-5 before an RWU timeout.
The Corsairs would eventually extend the lead to 18 (29-11) halfway through the opening half. UMD was on fire from downtown in the period, 11-of-19 in the half and hitting 52.5 percent of their field goals overall (21-40). Conversely, RWU shot 14-31 from the field in the half but only four of 16 shots from three-point range. The disparity in shooting for both teams allowed the Corsairs to take a commanding 56-32 lead into the break.
UMD began the second half with a steal and an alley-oop from Ashworth to Marcus Azor (Brockton, Mass.). The Corsairs continued with the hot shooting in the half, shooting 52.8 percent in the second half (19-36) and 50.0 percent from three. UMass-Dartmouth would collect their seventh win of the season with the victory.
