Baseball Ranked Sixth In Newest NEIBA Coaches Poll

Bristol, R.I.- In the most recent New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division III Coaches' Poll, the Roger Williams University Baseball team was ranked sixth in the region, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Hawks fell one spot from the week prior after going 3-2 last week including a split of a four-game series against conference rival Salve Regina University.

The team now sits with a record of 18-7 on the season including 11-5 against Commonwealth Coast Conference foes. In addition, they clinched a spot in the CCC Tournament with their split on Sunday afternoon.

"Again, it is great to be recognized this late in the season, but rankings are just numbers," Head Coach Kevin Kelley said. "We focus on getting better daily, that is our approach. Playoffs are in sight and that is when you find out the best teams in the region."

The Hawks wrapped up their conference schedule over the weekend but have a trio of nonconference contests remaining before the CCC Tournament beginning on May 1st. The Hawks will hit the road to play Nichols College for a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon before travelling to Suffolk next Wednesday in their final tune-up before the postseason.
