How It Happened
Gabe Reale got Roger Williams on the board first with a goal three minutes in, but Endicott came back with scores from Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.) and Sam DesMarais to go up one.
Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) tied things up with five minutes left in the first quarter but another DesMarais goal with two minutes left in the quarter put the Gulls up by one going into the second.
Endicott would open the following period with three straight goals over the first eight minutes of play. Back-to-back goals by
Jared Grier brought RWU within two but another Gull score in the closing seconds put EC up 7-4 entering halftime.
Two more tallies to open the second half built Endicott's lead to five. The turning point for RWU came late in the third and in the beginning of the fourth. Grier and
Daniel Civiello (Killingworth, Conn.) each scored in the final minute of the third, with two more Hawk goals coming in the first 90 seconds of the fourth to make it a 10-9 game in favor of Endicott. However, five unanswered goals by the Gulls over a six-minute stretch gave them a 15-9 lead. RWU scored twice in the final two minutes but it would not be enough.
