BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams Men's Tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory Saturday afternoon against Western New England University.
Hawk Highlights
Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) and
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) defeated Max Gordon (Middleton, Mass.) and Matthew Russell (Auburn, Mass.) 8-0 at #1 doubles for an early lead.
Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) and
Nick Cristante (North Haven, Conn.) would then collect an 8-1 win over
Brendan O'Connell (North Providence, R.I.) and Casey VanDenBossche (West Gardiner, Maine) at #3, while
Arlex Correa (Lynnfield, Mass.) and
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) felled Michael Robichaud (Auburn, Mass.) and Sebastian Smreczak (Auburn, Mass.) 8-3 at #2.
At singles, Trevethan and Correa picked up a respective pair of 6-1, 6-0 wins over Russell and Robichaud at #1 and #3. Tocco set down Gordon 6-0, 6-0 at #2, while Schuck grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 win at #4 over O'Connell.
Jake Bernard (Redding, Conn.) played at #6 and came away with a 6-2, 6-1 win over VanDenBossche. Cain was able to put away Smreczak 6-4, 6-4 for the Hawks sweep.
