BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams Women's Tennis team collected an 8-1 victory over Curry College Wednesday afternoon in the team's first Commonwealth Coast Conference match of the season.
 
Hawk Highlights
The Hawks worked quickly to a 3-0 lead after doubles. Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) and Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) rolled to an 8-0 win over Samantha Ferrara (Brewster, N.Y.) and Cayla Osowski (Westfield, Mass.) at #2. At #3, Kate Hardy (Southington, Conn.) and also won 8-0 against Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) Grace Coopee (Hampden, Mass.) and Lily Turner-Burrell (West Rutland, Vt.). Pushing RWU to the lead were Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) and Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) at #1, picking up an 8-1 win over Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) and Serena Wilson (Windsor, Conn.).
 
At singles, McCarthy and Alexa DiCesare (Norwood, Mass.) both logged 6-1, 6-0 victories, with DiCesare winning at #4 against Ferrara and McCarthy downing Coopee. Ferraro rolled to a win at #3 over Osowski without dropping a set, while Santoro defeated Turner-Burrell 6-0, 6-2 at #6. Cahoon had the last win for the Hawks, taking down Wilson 6-3, 6-0 at #2.
 
Borkov picked up the only win of the day for Curry at #1, winning 6-4, 6-1 against Place.
