How It Happened
The first ten minutes of play saw both teams' defenders and midfielders limit any potential offensive chances. Andre Caceres (Ossining, N.Y.), CJ Sousa (Fall River, Mass.), and Matt Bagley (Trumbull, Conn.) each put up shots over the stretch but none threatened to find the back of the net. Conversely, Bridgewater State's David Nelson (East Bridgewater, Mass.) had

RWU's first significant chance to score came at the 15th minute, when Jack Wetzel (Northport, N.Y.) sent a cross to Justin Horvath (Stratford, Conn.). Horvath put up a header on the right side that was pushed just a bit right.

Their second opportunity was actually converted into a score, with Sousa finding Wetzel on the right side of the box for an open shot. Wetzel fired a long shot into the left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Sousa connected with Wetzel again for his second goal of the game. Wetzel caught the Bear defense sleeping and launched a screaming 35-yarder over the Bears and into the middle of the net.

The Hawks added their third goal of the half at the 28th minute, with Ryan Miller (Hillsdale, N.J.) making his way down the middle between two Bear defenders and slipping a pass to his right. Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) gained possession and booted a shot into the left corner to make it a 3-0 Hawk lead.

Bridgewater State's best chance to score in the opening half came in the 24th minute, with Brett Ghelfi (Halifax, Mass.) and Joseph Madden Jr. (Milford, Mass.) logging back-to-back shots at close range. Fortunately for RWU, both shots ricocheted off of RWU defensive backs, keeping the Bears off the scoreboard.

A heads-up defensive block by Liam Lenihan (Rockland, Mass.) on a clean shot by Bagley in the 64th minute helped prevent another Roger Williams goal. However, Bridgewater State would not be as lucky in the 67th minute. Similar to RWU's third goal of the game, Miller brought the ball down the middle in front of a couple of Bridgewater State defensive backs. This time he found a wide-open Tommy Bowen (Manchester, Mass.) on the left for an easy goal, the first of his collegiate career.

John Padavano (Flemington, N.J.) preserved the shutout in the 75th minute, with a clutch save on a shot from the left by Ethan Lafontant (Chelmsford, Mass.). Roger Williams' defense would hold down Bridgewater State the rest of the way to claim the win.

Coach's Corner
Our team responded very well to our challenge of being able to have a good starts to the game for two consecutive games. It was apparent that our team was ready to go from the opening whistle and it was great to see then respond with such a dominant first half. We have been inconsistent throughout the year and it is good to see us put together several quality performances in a row. The first half was especially capped off with Jack Wetzel's first two goals of the year and CJ Sousa assisting on both. Also, it was great to have Tommy Bowen score his first collegiate goal and Ryan Miller get his first two assists of the season. We are excited that we are building momentum towards our biggest game of the year at Endicott on Saturday at 7 PM. It is going to be a great atmosphere with lots of CCC standings ramifications on the line. We are very much looking forward to the challenge on Saturday.
