How It Happened
The game started off sloppy for both squads, as Roger Williams shot 0-for-6 from the field in the first three minutes of the game. Wentworth was no better, going 0-for-5. Caroline Elie (Rockland, Mass.) finally scored the first basket of the game on an and-one layup off a pass from Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.), though she could not convert the free throw. Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.) got Wentworth on the board five minutes in with an off-balance layup. In the end, Roger Williams held a slim 8-4 lead after the first, with both teams combining for 6-for-33 shooting from the field.

In the second, the Hawks' offense fared better as the team went 8-for-15 in the quarter. Wentworth still struggled shooting in the period, connecting on only two of their ten shots in the frame while RWU's defense also forced seven turnovers in the period. After trading baskets to begin the second, RWU held Wentworth scoreless over a five-minute stretch. The end result was RWU outscoring Wentworth 20-4 in the quarter and taking a 28-8 halftime lead.

The Hawks never looked back in the third and fourth quarters, leading by as many as 33. Wentworth's offense finally came alive in the second half, with 12 points in the third and 15 in the fourth. The Leopards actually outscored Roger Williams 15-11 in the fourth, but the overall deficit was too much to overcome.
