BOSTON, Mass.– The Roger Williams University men's soccer team remained unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play defeating Suffolk 1-0 Saturday afternoon at James A Sartori Stadium.
The Hawks and Rams both had 17 shots in the match with Suffolk placing seven shots on net to Roger Williams six. Goalkeeper
Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) stopped all seven shots he faced in the loss.
The lone goal in the match came from
John Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.) in the second minute, after a shot coming off of the head of
Niall Shea (Portsmouth, R.I.) was saved and deflected to Fogarty, that Fogarty then buried in the back of the net.
The Hawks and Rams then battled, playing a scoreless match the rest of the way as the Hawks held on for the win.
Roger Williams (8-1-2, 3-0-0 CCC) will travel to Rhode Island College on Tuesday, Oct. 4 for a 5 pm matchup with the Anchormen. The Hawks will then return to Boston on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a CCC tilt with Wentworth.
