PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team played Rhode Island College Tuesday at Alumni Field, eventually playing the Anchormen to a 3-3 draw.
Hogan Cain (Nottingham, N.H.) made three saves in the contest, while the Hawks outshot Rhode Island College, 15-11, and 10-6 in shots on net.
The Hawks struck first, after
Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) fired a shot, saved by Wesley Perrotto, and
Jack Wildermann (Madison, Conn.) ran up for the finish, giving Roger Williams the 1-0 lead.
In the 28
th minute of play RIC got on the scoreboard when Brandon Ramos found Johathan Oliveira for the goal. At the 34:59 mark of the contest, Jesus Guarcas found the back of the net.
In the second half, the Anchormen went up 3-1, 18 minutes into the half before
Will Schiffer (Cotuit, Mass.) scored to trim the Hawk deficit to one. The Hawks continued to battle, until
Justin Horvath (Stratford, Conn.) received a pass from Beltran, that he put into the back of the net with 1:54 remaining in the contest.
Roger Williams (8-1-3, 3-0-0 CCC) will travel to Wentworth on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a 3 pm Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest with the Leopards. They will then host Curry on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in a 7 pm matchup, before playing Saturday, Oct. 15 against Endicott for Homecoming Saturday.
