Men’s Cross Country: Nathan Tassey Receives Third Runner and Rookie of the Week Award

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) of the Roger Williams University men's cross country team swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards for the third time this season, winning both Runner and Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Tassey has been awarded with the sweep in each of the three races that he has competed in. This is also the fourth time a Hawk runner has been named Rookie of the Week with Eli Labell (South Hamilton, Mass.) earning the honor in the second week of competition, the Hawks have had a runner named Rookie of the Week in each of the four weeks they have competed.
 
At the 8k James Earley Invitational, Tassey was the second runner in the field to finish and top freshman, finishing 0.5 seconds behind the top runner in the field. Finishing in 24:56.2, Tassey averaged a mile pace of 5:01.0 as he finished his third collegiate race of his career.
 
The Hawks will host their annual Alumni Race on Saturday, Oct. 15 for Homecoming and Family Weekend.  Roger Williams will then begin to turn their attention to the CCC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Biddeford, Maine hosted by the University of New England.
