Men’s Soccer: Late Goal by Wildermann Levels Hawks and Colonels

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team was pushed to the limit Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play against Curry, drawing with the Colonels, 2-2, on Bayside Field.

The Hawks were outshot by Curry 15-4, with the Colonels placing seven shots on net compared to the Hawks five. Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) made five saves in the matchup.

After a scoreless first half, the Hawks' Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) dribbled through a group of defenders, giving Roger Williams a 1-0 lead. The Hawks then fouled inside the box, and Adam Pforr converted the attempt in the 60th minute to level the score at 1-1.

Later in the half, Nick Sailer connected on a pass to Pfoor, that Pfoor then placed into the back of the net giving Curry a 2-1 lead with 12:46 remaining in the contest.  The Colonels led into the final minute of play, when a foul by Curry gave the Hawks a free kick with around 30 seconds remaining.

The Hawks' free kick attempt was taken by Jason Salley (Durham, Conn.) and placed into the box where Jack Wildermann (Madison, Conn.) was able to get his head on the ball and put the shot, into the back of the net with just over 20 seconds remaining.

Roger Williams (9-1-4, 4-0-1 CCC) remained unbeaten in CCC play and their last six contests. Endicott will come to Bristol on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3 pm as the Hawks host the Gulls for Homecoming and Family Weekend. Roger Williams will then travel to Salve Regina on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 pm.
